When your own anxiety leads to apocalyptic Dreams

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 6:21 pm

I couldn’t state how many of us have dreams of large scale disasters but for certain these cataclysmic dreams do trouble some people. Why do these disturbing dreams occur ? Well according to an article on the Experience Festival website, there are several reasons why we are subjected to these nightmares. It seems it boils down to the person lacking control in their personal life, economic uncertainty or a feeling of the world being against them. What’s also interesting is that the dreamer appears to be making the world go away so they don’t have to deal with the real world problem. All interesting stuff and the rest of this article can be viewed at http://www.experiencefestival.com/dream_interpretation_disaster.

Making sense of dying in your dreams

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 10:02 am

Some time ago I had a dream that I’d pulled up at some traffic lights in my car and a guy got out of the car in front and shot me in the head. I spent quite a lot of my waking time after that checking out the guy in the car in front of me wherever I was !

Well the good news is that dreams of death are very rarely precognative and you shouldn’t worry unduly about such tragic dreams. You should though try and make some sort of correlation to other current events in your life. This is the thread that runs through a lengthy and absorbing article written by Jane Teresa Anderson last year. If you ever dream of death (it may be someone else dying by the way), take a bit of time out to go to http://www.dream.net.au/library/death_dreams.cfm and learn a little more.

Dreaming of food and drink - what does it mean ?

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 7:57 pm

Ever dream of tucking into a juicy steak or a plate of Chinese chow mein ? Well regardless of how nice the food is, you should perhaps take a little time to consider whether the dream has a meaning. You may be surprised to hear that there are quite a lot of interpretations out there for different foodstuffs and drinks. One such source of this information is at http://www.dream-land.info/category.php?ctg=3 where you can look up such things as bacon, bananas, chocolate, ham, raisins and loads more. Here’s a couple of examples :-

Ice-cream - Eating and enjoying ice cream on a hot day denotes that a very exhausting love affair will satisfy your cravings, but will not bring you much happiness.

Radish - If you dream about radishes, expect small pleasures in the near future. Eating radishes in the dream means that you are angry with someone’s sharp and critical remarks. The radish cold also indicate a love affair about which you fell uncertain.

All I ever dream about is eating curry but that one’s missing from the list !

Jewish News features on the importance of our dreams

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 9:49 pm

A new article appears today in the Jewish News website which focuses on the importance of recognising the meaning of our dreams. In 2 days time Dr Doris Cohen will deliver her “Exploring the World of Dreams” item as the keynote speaker for the Network of Jewish Communal Professional’s Glass Institute.

In the news article, Dr Cohen is asked some questions about the importance of our dreams. Here’s a brief extract :-

The subject of nightmares or anxiety dreams is one that Cohen often addresses in her workshops. “It is dangerous to ignore your nightmares, especially when they are recurring and keep banging at the door,” she cautions. “They are not like spam e-mail that you can instantly delete. Their message is one that needs to be addressed — not at a literal level, but as a sign of a deeper, more rooted meaning.”

Much of interest can be read in the rest of this article.

Make some sense of dreams where you are falling

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 9:45 pm

We’ve all had them and none of us really like them - the dream where you feel you are falling. More often than not it’s a vague sensation of you dropping through the air but it’s the same end result - you jerk violently awake !!! So what’s it all about ? Well according to an article on the Dream Prophecy website, it’s an indicator of you lacking confidence and maybe experiencing some sense of insecurity. Here’s a short excerpt :-

Falling dreams, at their core, reflect some sense of failure or inferiority within the dreamer……whether or not this is a justifiable insecurity. If someone dreams that they are falling, if they look closely at their life, they will most assuredly find a situation in which they feel that they don’t quite measure up. It could be at work or school - maybe a task lies ahead that they aren’t sure they’re capable of handling.

Mastering your own dream interpretations

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 7:48 pm

Do you seek the guidance of others in pursuit of the meaning of your own dreams ? Maybe interpretation is nearer to hand than you think. Certainly acquiring the skill to remember your dreams effectively is an initial stepping stone but what then ?

Well I was reading an article tonight that leans towards trying to relate your current activities and thoughts to what details you are observing in your dreams. The article was called ‘Dreams as Guidance to Life’s Questions’, is written by Kevin J. Todeschi and can be found at http://www.shirleymaclaine.com/articles/dreams/article-143. An interesting paragraph from the text is as follows :-

For the most part, dreams contrast and correlate the activities that are going on in our lives. They often provide the dreamer with other ways of looking at activities, relationships, and concerns that have been on his or her mind. Working with a dream simply suggests that we get a sense of whether or not the dream is positive, negative, uplifting, a warning - whatever it may be. After we have a sense of the theme or the feeling of the dream, the next step is to attempt to discover what area of our life appears most connected to that dream. In other words, even if we don’t understand every symbol, can we get an idea of what the dream may be suggesting about our life?

Do you ever dream of your teeth falling out ?

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 8:42 pm

Dream Emporium is quite a resource if dreams interest you in any way and it doesn’t just necessarily cover dream interpretation. However they do have a selection of dream meanings and one intriguing one is that of the dream of your teeth falling out. Alarming, eh ? Well thankfully the belief is not a literal one and is apparently more to do with your current lack of confidence and the need to be more assertive with your contemporaries. More to the point seems to be your ability to make your feelings known to other parties.

Instead of me elaborating more, point your browser to http://dreamemporium.com/dream_symbols.html and scroll down a quarter of the way and look for the major heading ‘TEETH’. As the website freely admits, this interpretation hasn’t met with agreement for everyone and an alternative perspective is given from someone else.

Can you take control of your dreams with supplements ?

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 9:45 pm

Well do you think it’s possible ? I didn’t know such things existed until today when I came across the Brilliant Dreams website at http://www.brilliantdreams.com/. The site claims their supplements, called Brilliant Dreams, will enhance your dreams to the point where you realise you are dreaming and take control of your dream. Not only this, the product is supposed to improve dream recall which enables you to make a fuller interpretation of your dreams.

I’ve not tried this product so I can’t comment on it but not surprisingly the price is a little bit steep at $39.95 per bottle. Then again, dependent on how good your dreams are, this could be the bargain of the century !!

Filed under: Uncategorized — DreamGuru @ 6:20 pm

I have to say that if you have any interest in dreams then an essential site to visit is Dream Central at http://www.sleeps.com/dreams.html. However more to the point as far as you may be concerned is the page dedicated to dream analysis at http://www.sleeps.com/analysis.html.

It may well be that you haven’t thought in depth about how to go about truly analyzing your dreams and I would say to you that this is a good starting point. It starts with some basics, goes into HOW you should sleep, moves on to themes and then talks you through the stages of analysis. Even if you’ve done your own dream analysis before, you should consider comparing notes with the advice given here. After all it is free !
